A few notes from last night’s scrimmage: -- There was a little bit of chatter before the game about how the Bruins’ AHL affiliate, Providence, had “beaten” their parent club in a scrimmage the night before. The Islanders' practices on Tuesday (11 a.m.) and Thursday (10 a.m.) at Nassau Coliseum are open to the public, as is Wednesday’s 7 p.m. scrimmage with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.
Tickets and parking are free for all three events.

Lubomir Visnovsky, the veteran defenseman the Islanders acquired for a second-round pick on draft day in June, will stay in his home country of Slovakia for the remainder of this season, his agent told Newsday.
Visnovsky, 36, is in the final year of his NHL contract, but there is no iron-clad agreement prohibiting him from staying in the Russia-based KHL, so he has decided to finish out the...Read more »
