Isles to play preseason game in Brooklyn

The Islanders will play a preseason game at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on Sept. 21, their first game in the team’s future home.

Tickets for the game go on sale April 17 at 10 a.m.

The Isles and Devils meet that night, as the two teams had planned to play this past Oct. 2 at Barclays Center before the NHL’s four-month lockout killed the entire preseason schedule.

While Anders Lee had a goal in his first period of NHL action Tuesday night against Winnipeg, Ryan Strome, the Isles' 2011 first-round pick, did the same in his pro debut with Bridgeport. Mark Streit will not be signing a contract extension before Wednesday's 3 p.m. trade deadline, it appears.

But unless Islanders general manager Garth Snow receives a trade offer than he couldn't possibly refuse -- and that would have to include a first-round draft pick -- Streit, the Islanders captain, still will be with them through the end of the season.
