CHICAGO -- Kevin Poulin is in goal, Cal Clutterbuck is in the lineup, Matt Moulson is en route and Brock Nelson is a likely scratch.
There are a few changes coming for the Islanders on Friday night here against the Hawks, topped by Poulin getting his first start of the season in net after Evgeni Nabokov had three strong games.
Nabokov will play on Saturday in Nashville and it was just...Read more »
Some notes from Thursday’s Isles-Devils game in Newark:
-- Jack Capuano was particularly pleased with the work of his very inexperienced defense against a Devils team that had about 75 percent of its opening night roster on the ice. Griffin Reinhart, Ryan Pulock, Andrey Pedan and Scott Mayfield all played very capably; Mike Dalhuisen, the 24-year-old out of The Netherlands and Quinnipiac University...Read more »
With the Islanders' first preseason game less than two weeks away, Colin McDonald held a meet and greet to sign autographs and take pictures with fans Wednesday at Nassau Coliseum.
"You don't get a chance to meet the fans on a personal level like this throughout the course of the season and the reality of it is these are the guys, these are the people that pay us our salaries, and it's...Read more »
Cal Clutterbuck, one of the newest members of the Islanders, met with fans Tuesday at Nassau Coliseum to sign autographs and take photos.
"You can never have too many fans, and to take an hour, an hour and a half to come out and hang out with them, interact with them for the first time, it was a pretty good day,” Clutterbuck said after making his first public appearance as an Islander.

For any Boston University Hockey fans in attendance Thursday night for the “Blue Vs. Orange” scrimmage at the Nassau Coliseum during the 2013 Islanders Minicamp, there will be a familiar sight when they sit down to watch the game.

Islanders coach Jack Capuano mentioned earlier this week that he met first-round draft pick Ryan Pulock for the first time at the 2013 NHL Draft, when the Islanders took him with the 15th pick. So you can imagine the unfamiliarity that Capuano has with some of the other prospects at the camp, especially the undrafted invites who are unsigned.
Not only has this camp given him an opportunity...Read more »
Griffin Reinhart has heard the criticisms. He’s heard himself portrayed as lazy and as someone who consistently takes plays off. Reinhart, though, is here to prove those critics wrong.
“I know I’ve been criticized in the past, for not necessarily being lazy, but not urgent enough and intense,” Reinhart said. “I think I’ve really worked on that and I think they’ve seen that now in me a little...Read more »
Ryan Pulock has only been on the ice for about an hour for his new organization, but already he has developed a reputation. If there’s one thing you his fellow prospects learned about him on Tuesday, it’s that you don’t want to get in the way of his shot.
“He’s a big, strong kid and hopefully you don’t get hit with one of his shots in front of the net,” Brock Nelson said.
Pulock, who...Read more »
The Islanders have re-signed Cal Clutterbuck to a four-year contract, the team announced Tuesday.
“It’s important [for us],” Islanders coach Jack Capuano said. “Where he was in his contract, to lock him up, I think he’s going to be an intricate part of our team."
The Islanders acquired Clutterbuck, who was a restricted free agent, from the Minnesota Wild less than 10 days ago during...Read more »
For many prospects at the Islanders Mini Camp, this week presents an opportunity to meet some of the other players in the organization and have a little fun before returning to their respective junior or college teams.
Not for Ryan Strome. He’s got a different mission.
“I expect to be a leader and show that I’m a man amongst boys here,” Strome said. “I want to show that I’m a good player...Read more »
