Kevin Poulin will make his second consecutive start in goal on Tuesday for the Islanders, his first set of back-to-back starts since Feb. 20-21, 2012 -- of course, Poulin only played 95 seconds of the Feb. 20 game, pulled after allowing two goals.

But it’s still a bit of a change for the Isles, going with the 25-year-old goaltender to see if he can help right the team after a four-game losing...

A few health updates from the Isles’ day off on Monday, with the Predators coming to the Coliseum on Tuesday:

-- It does not appear Thomas Vanek (upper body) will need to go on injured reserve. Vanek, who was hurt in the first minute of Saturday’s loss in Columbus and missed Sunday’s game in Montreal, is still likely out of Tuesday’s game. But if he comes through a Tuesday morning workout...

RALEIGH, N.C. -- The Isles got back to work on Wednesday, trying to erase the bad memories of the second period in Tuesday’s 6-2 loss to the Caps in Washington.

“For me, it was the first time all year I didn’t think we channeled our energy the right way,” Jack Capuano said. “There was a lot of frustration on the bench and I thought it carried over in that period.”

The Isles gave up five...

Some notes from Thursday’s Isles-Devils game in Newark:

-- Jack Capuano was particularly pleased with the work of his very inexperienced defense against a Devils team that had about 75 percent of its opening night roster on the ice. Griffin Reinhart, Ryan Pulock, Andrey Pedan and Scott Mayfield all played very capably; Mike Dalhuisen, the 24-year-old out of The Netherlands and Quinnipiac University...

The Islanders have re-signed Cal Clutterbuck to a four-year contract, the team announced Tuesday.

“It’s important [for us],” Islanders coach Jack Capuano said. “Where he was in his contract, to lock him up, I think he’s going to be an intricate part of our team."
