Cal Clutterbuck, one of the newest members of the Islanders, met with fans Tuesday at Nassau Coliseum to sign autographs and take photos.

"You can never have too many fans, and to take an hour, an hour and a half to come out and hang out with them, interact with them for the first time, it was a pretty good day,” Clutterbuck said after making his first public appearance as an Islander.

The Islanders acquired Clutterbuck in a trade with the Minnesota Wild for Nino Niederreiter during the 2013 NHL Draft. They later signed the right winger to a four-year contract July 9.

Clutterbuck said one odd thing about getting traded during the offseason is having to wait so long to get out on the ice with new teammates.

"I’m looking forward to the first day of training camp, first game, that kind of thing," he said. "It's been a month and a half since I got traded so I'm kind of champing at the bit."

Clutterbuck is known as a hard-hitting forward. He ranked ninth in the league last year with 155 hits in 42 games with the Wild.
