Doug Weight skates -- but only as a power-play "coach"
Weight, out since Nov. 20 with back spasms, did skate this morning, but only in a warmup suit -- Jack Capuano asked Weight to offer some pointers to the Isles' dismal power play, which is 0-for-29 over its last eight games.
"I'll take any help I can get, and he's got over 1,200 games of experience," Capuano said.
The power play should also get a boost from Andrew MacDonald's return from a broken hand -- that should be Thursday against the Rangers.
Bruno Gervais (broken cheekbone) and Rick DiPietro (rest) also did not skate today. Gervais is being fitted for a cage to cover his face and will skate tomorrow, as will DiPietro, who has played the last three games.
