For any Boston University Hockey fans in attendance Thursday night for the “Blue Vs. Orange” scrimmage at the Nassau Coliseum during the 2013 Islanders Minicamp, there will be a familiar sight when they sit down to watch the game.
Not only were Terrier forwards Cason Hohmann, Evan Rodrigues and Ben Rosen all invited to participate in the Islanders camp this week, but they were grouped together,...Read more »
Islanders coach Jack Capuano mentioned earlier this week that he met first-round draft pick Ryan Pulock for the first time at the 2013 NHL Draft, when the Islanders took him with the 15th pick. So you can imagine the unfamiliarity that Capuano has with some of the other prospects at the camp, especially the undrafted invites who are unsigned.
Not only has this camp given him an opportunity...Read more »
Griffin Reinhart has heard the criticisms. He’s heard himself portrayed as lazy and as someone who consistently takes plays off. Reinhart, though, is here to prove those critics wrong.
“I know I’ve been criticized in the past, for not necessarily being lazy, but not urgent enough and intense,” Reinhart said. “I think I’ve really worked on that and I think they’ve seen that now in me a little...Read more »
Ryan Pulock has only been on the ice for about an hour for his new organization, but already he has developed a reputation. If there’s one thing you his fellow prospects learned about him on Tuesday, it’s that you don’t want to get in the way of his shot.

Throughout Joey Diamond’s childhood, he would come to the Nassau Coliseum to watch the Islanders.
Now, as a 23 year-old, he’s still coming to the Coliseum — but now he’s on the ice instead of in the stands.
Diamond, a Long Beach native, took to the ice Tuesday for the first day of the 2013 Islanders Mini Camp, his first camp as a member of the organization. Diamond signed a one-year,...Read more »
The Islanders have not locked up Evgeni Nabokov to return as at least one of their goaltenders for next season, despite both sides being relatively close on a contract.
There may be younger, more attractive goaltending options available when free agency begins on July 5, but perhaps the most intriguing goaltender available will be sought after around the day of the June 30 NHL draft.

Andrew MacDonald is headed home to Nova Scotia this week, but he'll be back in three weeks to have a metal rod removed from his broken left hand.
MacDonald took Douglas Murray's shot off the back of his hand in Game 4, an injury that the Isles had trouble overcoming.
"I thought the guys played their hearts out in Game 6," he said. "It was just one of those things."...Read more »
