Live condor steals show during national anthem at Bakersfield Condors game

It's a good thing the Bakersfield Condors aren't nicknamed the Tigers. That certainly would've made this pregame ritual a lot more frightening.

Before an ECHL hockey game between the Condors and the Las Vegas Wranglers on Friday, the Condors brought out a live version of their namesake to be placed at center ice during the national anthem.

The condor had other ideas, though.

The enormous bird escaped from its trainer, which led to a short chase on the ice. Once the trainer retrieved the bird, he lost his balance and came crashing to the ice. The condor continued to mosey around, eventually flying into one of the team's benches before his trainer recaptured him.

The Condors themselves didn't get any luck from the bird as they lost 4-1.
