Giants lose a leader in Strahan

It wasn't a complete shock to hear news of Michael Strahan retiring Monday, but still, it's a shock. Those weren't just platitudes for a longtime teammate that Osi Umenyiora and Justin Tuck were saying Monday, those were words of loss for a guy who was a leader on the order of Messier or Jeter.

Mets can't get it right

The Mets use the old Jets locker room at Shea Stadium for lots of media events, including Willie Randolph's daily postgame briefing. So it was natural, with the crush of reporters hovering around Randolph's deathbed Monday, for the team to drop Randolph and GM Omar Minaya down for a press conference after the two met with Fred and Jeff Wilpon.

It's over for the Rangers -- a few of them more than others. The 3-2 overtime loss to the Penguins on Sunday afternoon closed out the 2007-08 season with modest success, but only lateral movement from the previous year, when the Rangers were also knocked out in the conference semifinal.
