By practicing Friday, Rangers avoided problems Saturday

The original plan was to have Friday as an off day, but noting the weather after the Rangers beat the Islanders 4-1 on Thursday, the brass moved Saturday's practice to Friday and today was an off day before Tampa arrives at the Garden Sunday.

We'll see if the long time off helps the 5-5 Blueshirts (it might help D Dan Girardi, who I wrote about yesterday, and who could play Sunday night). Tampa, on the other hand, is in snowed-in Boston tonight (the game was first moved from 1 p.m. to 7 due to storm, then cancelled about 3 p.m. dur to travel conditions) and has to travel here for Sunday's match at MSG.  Tampa (6-4) won't have a morning skate at MSG  (might not have planned one anyway) because Knicks are playing at 1.

Anyway, snowfall was about a foot here at Chez Zipay, not all that far from the MSG Training Center, where I'll be tomorrow for the skate and report from there. Roads are fine.

Spent today on my Sunday Insider column, a full page on the Rangers for the paper, includes a feature, news, quotes and stats....Check it out tomorrow and let me know whatcha think....
