Callahan reax: Initial "shock"; thought extension would get done

Some fast excerpts from Ryan Callahan interview on TSN:

"Extremely excited...I'm going to a great organization, heard nothing from good things from players who’ve played there…they’re in the playoff hunt, which is big."

On willingness to re-sign there:

"Right now you just get down there and get settled and get used to my surroundings, once that happens, I’m open to anything if there’s contract talks; if not, we’ll see what happens in July."

"I truly thought we would work something out that worked for both sides. I said all along I wanted to stay there, but it’s part of the business. I have nothing but great things to say about the Rangers."

Will he look back in regret if sides were clsoe on $$$

"I wouldn’t call it regret,  I have a family here, worried about getting them settled; …after letting it all sink in, I’m excited to go to Tampa.

About fitting in:

"It’s tough, I never experienced it (a trade) before. I’m just going to be myself, that’s what gotten me to this point, acting how I act on the ice, hopefully they welcome me with open arms."
