Could Hagelin's 3-game suspension be reduced?

Good morning from Ottawa, everybody.

Rangers said last night in a statement (which you've probably read by now) that they were "perplexed" but would not appeal the rookie's punishment.

But apparently on WFAN this morning back in the city that matters, Shanahan said he might reduce the ban if Daniel Alfredsson plays tonight.  Now that would make sense, especially since some the "reasoning" that went into the suspension was that Alfie was injured on the play. But the Ottawa captain was laughing and feeling better yesterday, according to reports from the Sens practice.

As to who plays for NYR tonight, we'll let ya know that and more from the skate this morning at 11:30 out in Kanata as Game 3 approaches...
