Erik Christensen out 4-6 weeks with MCL
Looked bad as he painfully left the ice against the Devs, and an exam confirmed that the Rangers center will be out four to six weeks with a second-degree sprain of the medial collateral ligament of the right knee.
Is RW Dale Weise here longer term now? Depends how he plays. Chris Drury can slide to center, but Tortorella has said he likes him on the wing. Vinny Prospal isn't that close, although with the rehabbing knee, he could be a fourth line pivot, with lesser minutes, when he returns,
In the AHL, there's vet Kris Newbury and Chad Kolarik, who reportedly has played pretty well since he joined the Whale on Nov. 11 in the Dane Byers trade with Columbus. The 24-year-old U of M grad, also a winger, might be worth a look at some point. If Tim Kennedy is recalled, does someone else grab him?
