Johan Hedberg released from tryout; five sent to AHL

Johan Hedberg, the 40-year-old netminder who backed up Martin brodeur in New Jersey for the past three years. is gone. Hedberg was brought in on a tryout when camp opened because Martin Biron was dealing with a family issue, and head coach Alain Vigneault said he would compete for a job. But Hedberg did not play in either pre-season game, and Biron, Cam Talbot, and Henrik Lundqvist will be the three Gs to head to Western Canada later today.

The five re-assignments:

Ryan Bourque, Michael St. Croix, Brandon Nash, Josh Nicholls, Shawn O' Donnell. 


J. T. Miller, who has not played in either of the pre-season games (hamstring) is skating with the large group today.
