No Nash, but Crash: John Scott comes in from Chicago
In a minor move, the Rangers acquired 6-foot-8, 270-pound defenseman John Scott from the Blackhawks, an unrestricted free agent this summer, for a fifth-round pick in June.
Scott, 29, is hardly an offensive plus: He has just one goal (2009-10) in four seasons. In the last Rangers game against the Hawks, Scott played forward and received boarding and roughing penalties against Mike Rupp. The team does not have to make a roster move for him, with 22 players---12 forwards, eight defenseman and two goaltenders. If the Rangers need another defenseman for the playoffs, they likely will call up Tim Erixon from the Whale, and Mats Zuccarello could be promoted as well.
