And I think the Rangers will add a defenseman before the deadline at 3 pm.

Here's Sharks president and GM Doug Wilson on Clowe:

He confirms that it's second and third rounders in 2013 draft, plus second rounder in 2014. If Clowe re-signs with NYR or NYR wins two playoff rounds, pick remains. If neither occurs, it's a fifth rounder.

"These types of deals are extremely difficult, I just finished meeting with Ryan, he's a homegrown guy, there were mixed emotions."

Wilson said Ryan and his agent, Kent Hughes had final say.
"He's revered and respected, tough as nails, a great teammate...as a player and teammate, just a tremendous heart and soul competitor."

"We wanted to allow Ryan to explore what he was looking for; we're going through a reset and refresh. It was his decision at the end, but he was very cognizant of the fact that we would get fair return."

"This is a very strong draft, we have 5 in top 61, you're always looking to replenish."
