Rangers hope for emotional lift from Garden crowd
Some twilight thoughts before a light dinner with my wife, Caps-Bs and a chance to catch my breath. Feel like a paragraph factory on steroids. Writing thousands of words per day here, between tweets, online and for the paper, ya know. Gotta pay the mortgage.
Least there won't be any flights for the next round, if the Rangers advance. And I believe they will.
The players seems relaxed and confident, if not the coach. Marian Gaborik, who I believe might just score Thursday, said the MSG crowd tomorrow could be a "seventh player". Brad Richards, who should know (I wrote about his playoff vibe and experience yesterday) will probably say a few words in the room before the game to prep this team. Said today the players should not be tight or prepare differently, "just go with it....not a lot of chances to enjoy a Game 7."
By the way, I expect Ryan Callahan to play, as I mentioned earlier. Smart move to rest and treat the hand today.
Good to hear from friends from the past and outta town who've heard me on WFAN and NBC. Have vowed to catch up in the summer. If someone can drag me away from the missing sun, the nearby pool, the ocean and perhaps a cozy hillside retreat in Donegal. Oops, was I lost in that daydream again?
More on Game 7, some stats (home teams win 58.5 percent in 1st round), the expectations of a raucous crowd and how it might help, Lundqvist on Vezina nom, Dubinsky on channeling emotions, all on newsday.com shortly....http://www.newsday.com/sports/hockey/rangers?qr=1
