Right call? Talbot in net in 1st NHL back-to-back; Lundqvist sits

I'll answer my own question: Yes.

Hard to see any risk here, as Alain Vigneault is going with the hot hand against the Leafs on the last game of this disappointing 2-4-2 homestand.

The team won 4-1 on Sunday as Talbot (7-2, 1.67 GAA) stopped 24 of 25 shots against the Wild. Lundqvist, who neck remains a little stiff from Wednesday's collision with Chris Kunitz conceded today after a on-ice practice with Marc Staal and Taylor Pyatt at MSG that his backup has been playing well and was not surprised by Vigneault's decision.

Would expect Lundqvist to start in D.C. on 12/27, the next game after a three-day holiday break.

BTW, Staal wasn't available to media after the informal session, but the fact that he skated and shot for 45 minutes is a positive sign as he continues to recover from a Dec. 7 concussion. I'm guessing that without any setbacks, he will make the trip to DC.

Updates coming before the 7 p.m. start...
