Rangers captain and right wing Ryan Callahan and speedy forward Carl Hagelin underwent successful surgeries in Manhattan for torn labrums of the left shoulders on Friday, the team said.  They are expected to be out at least four months, and thus will miss training camp, and possibly part of the  season.

It is unclear when the injuries occurred but Callahan finished with two goals and five points in 12 playoff games; Hagelin had three goals and three assists.

Not the best start for a new head coach, who will have to find replacements in training camp. Think J.T. Miller, with a good camp, will have a real shot to open the season, and perhaps another forward from the AHL.

Lots of moving parts, though, before and during camp.
