Update from Montreal: Biron in, Asham out, Staal questionable
Well, there will be changes in all areas for the Rangers tonight in Bell Centre, starting in goal.
Martin Biron will open the game in net, his third start. The veteran is 1-0-1 in three games (he relieved Lundqvist once) and has a GAA of 2.31, save % of .928 and won't be cowed by the crowd and energy in the building, which will be rocking. He's faced Montreal 29 times overall in his career (not all on the road however). As coach John Tortorella noted, he's a calming influence on the ice.
That could be important, because the offense and defense are moving parts.
Michael Del Zotto left the morning skate after about 10 or 15 minutes and is doubtful, at least by the way he was walking. It's a right hip or leg that's bothering him after a third-period check by Marc Methot in Ottawa. And Marc Staal was back at the hotel, suffering effects of the flu, the team said, Torts said he would be a game-time decision,
So the pairs at the skate were:
Ryan McDonagh-Dan Girardi; Matt Gilroy-Anton Stralman and Steve Eminger-Stu Bickel. If Staal recovers, one of the third liners, probably Bickel, would sit.
