Update on mediation, Rangers in Europe stats
So Henrik Lundqvist is returning to Sweden to wait out the denouement of the CBA war, which has moved into the non-binding federal mediation phase, which we wrote about here yesterday. Sportsnet broadcaster Daren Millard reports are that there are initial meetings between the sides today, and TSN analyst Aaron Ward notes a 4 p.m. conference call between the NHLPA leadership and its negotiating committee.
What about the rest of the Rangers in Europe?
Obviously, Carl Hagelin, who skated in Staten Island for the Sandy fund-raiser, has left Sodertalje in Sweden to rehab his shoulder. And Rick Nash is not listed on the roster for tonight’s Davos game in Switzerland. Larry Brooks tweeted the other day that Nash has a sore groin.
Sounds as if Nash, who is 10-6-16 in 15 games (counting a hat trick in his first one, so he’s less than a PPG), is taking care that the injury doesn’t worsen. Previous shoulder issue kayoed him for a week.
D Ryan McDonagh (0-3-3 in 10 games for Barys of the KHL) was also back in the U.S. for Thanksgiving.
Michael Del Zotto, a restricted free agent, is 1-3-4 in six games for the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers of the Swiss National League A. The Lakers are ranked No. 10 in the 12-team league and Davos is ninth, BTW.
Derek Stepan is 1-1-2 in six games for KalPa Kuopio in Finland.
