The Rangers agreed to terms with forward Michael St. Croix, who they selected in the fourth round (106th overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. He established career-highs in games played (72), goals (45), assists (60), points (105), and penalty minutes (49) last season, while capturing the Western Hockey League (WHL) Championship with the Edmonton Oil Kings.

The Rangers assigned eight players to the Connecticut Whale of the American Hockey League, including defensemen Sean Collins, Logan Pyett and Mike Vernace, and forwards Tommy Grant, Micheal Haley, Chad Kolarik, Kris Newbury, and Brandon Segal. Connecticut opens training camp on Sept. 29.
