What's Ahead: A quick look at the bottom 4 battle in the East

Four teams are separated by three points; only one is in.

No. 6

ISLANDERS: With 54 points after the SO loss in Carolina, they’re in; last two games are vs. Flyers and Sabres, each of whom won last night, so 6th is not secured.

ROW tiebreaker: 20

No. 7

SENATORS: With 52 points, Ottawa has fate in hands. They have three games left, more than anyone else in this chart. Sens may have Erik Karlsson back to play Washington on Thursday and/or a home game against Philly on Saturday. But Sunday, when they go to Boston for makeup game, could mean mucho in positioning.

ROW: 19

No. 8

RANGERS: Still at 52 points after tripping over the blueline at BB&T Center last night. They need two points in the last two games, against Canes on the road tomorrow and home against Devils in a Saturday matinee. Pressure on Henrik Lundqvist, Rick Nash, and the core guys to get those points tomorrow and avoid a no-margin-for-error challenge  against Jersey.

ROW: 20

No. 9

JETS:  51 points after a tough loss against Caps. They certainly can win in front of frenzied fans at home finale against vulnerable Canadiens on Thursday, and then watch and hope for the best.

ROW: 22
