And so, the Rangers narrative continues....

Henrik Lundqvist took some shots in the optional morning skate, then gave way to Marty Biron, who will be the backup for the seventh straight game.

Chris Kreider (bone chip in ankle) went through the skate with the goalies and four others, then stayed behind defenseman Steve Eminger with assistant coach Jim Schoenfeld for more rigorous conditioning...

First game without Captain Callahan tonight vs. Pens

My story in the paper and on newsday. com today discusses the absence of No. 24 for 10 days to two weeks with that partially dislocated shoulder. Also a good chart on his stats against the teams the Blueshirts will be facing in the next two weeks.

Perhaps we will speak to him this morning at the skate at 10:30 or at MSG tonight. Have feeling he'll want to be with the club.

At any...

With my laptop totally crashed after the second period and scrambling to report and find a way to file a story, missed going into Pens locker room at MSG last night.  But NHL.com's Dave Lozo was there and reported that Max Talbot said he and Ryan Callahan were holding each other up during the early third period scrap when he heard the pop, felt it and let go and saw the pain on Callahan's face.

"No idea" was what coach John Tororella said when he was asked post-game about how much time gritty Rangers captain Ryan Callahan would miss. He said he had no immediate update on the severity of the injury, which occured at 4:22 of the third period during a scrap with Flyers forward Maxime Talbot near the Rangers net. Talbot appeared to yank Callahan's arm at one point, and he skated...

Rangers-Flyers: Lundqvist in for 6th straight, Bickel back on D

First visit for Philly to NYC tonight, and if you follow me on Twitter @stevezipay (and I'm not sure why on Earth you wouldn't), you'd already know that Henrik Lundqvist will start in net for the sixth straight game. He is 2-1-0 in the last three, and allowed just two goals in two of 'em.

Judging by the morning skate, Stu Bickel wll be back on defense after three starts on the blueline by...

Tortorella’s dilemma: Ride the horses or change

The GNR line (for the Guns n' Roses devotees) has 19 points; the rest of the Blueshirts? 18.

“When the big line has played, they’ve played very well,” coach John Tortorella said after practice today, referring to Saturday vs the Leafs and the 4-3 OT win over the Bs. “We lose that game in Philly (2-1 Thursday)  when I had them together and they’re an absolute no show. The two games that...

Lundqvist will start fifth straight tonight vs Leafs

I thought Lundqvist was in mid-season form on Thursday, as he anticipated that he would after a few games. He told me (us)  that during the abbreviated training camp. Needed the work, oen of the goals was a no-chance double defelection. So why not keep him in there? Blueshirts need a win. Maybe Marty Biron gets the start against Philly at home next week. Or maybe not....
