Steve Zipay takes you inside the locker room, home and on the road, with the New York Rangers, and also writes about the NHL, off and on the ice.
“I hit the fence at 365, it bugs me that I couldn’t hit one out,” said Ryan McDonagh, full-time defenseman and former high school college slugger, talking ruefully today about BP at Target Field. “(Twins skipper) Ron Gardenhire is a big hockey fan and he’s had some of the Minnesota Wild guys out and a few of us went last week” to hit and shag flies. “I haven’t used a wooden bat in six years.”

Having some new software issues, but here's the first of hopefully several files from Arlington and Team USA camp:
Wearing a white Team USA jersey, Derek Stepan looked and spoke nothing like a 23-year-old deeply concerned about his next contract.
With Rangers training camp opening in 16 days, the restricted free-agent center who scored 44 points in 48 games last season was relaxed,...Read more »

Stepan, 23, is a restricted free agent without arbitration rights, coming...Read more »

The bet...Read more »
A day after arriving back from a wonderful three weeks on the Emerald isle, I was on the green grass of that ballyard in the Bronx on Thursday where the official announcement of the two outdoor games (Rangers-Devils on Jan. 26 at 12:30 and Rangers-Islanders on Jan. 29 at 7:30) was delivered. Posted a photo of the outline of the rink on Twitter @stevezipay.
Should be quite...Read more »
