Some comments and quotes and stats that did not make the paper, so you have ‘em here, as usual…Nobody sleeps yet…

There’s a sense of growing confidence in the Rangers’ room, not swagger, because the goals are still tough to come by, but things appear to be coming together.

The healthy scratch against Philadelphia on Oct. 24 has spurred Mats Zuccarello to another level in his...

Callahan practices, Moore out with oblique, Lundqvist in goal

Although he’s frustrated with being sidelined, Rangers captain Ryan Callahan’s broken left thumb is healing on schedule and he skated with his teammates Thursday morning before the Sabres game for the first time since the injury.

Post-Game extra: Quotes, stats after NYR comeback

Chris Kreider, who opened the scoring at 12:30 of the first:  “This was a character win, just like that Detroit game (a 3-2 win in OT), these are the kinds of games you need to find a way to win.”

AV on Benoit Pouliot, whose goal at 6:18 of third was the winner and...

Vigneault on goalie choice vs. Isles

Here's the head coach on why Talbot over Lundqvist, who was 3-0-1 against the Isles last season:

"Our last few games, the team has played well in front of both goaltenders. It’s just a question of back-to-back; I mentioned before that I needed a goaltender who could play 15-20 games and this is one of those back-to-back situations even though it’s not long travel...Talbot’s played well...

Updated: Cam Talbot will start vs. Islanders

It will be the 26-year-old's third NHL start, and obviously the first at Nassau Coliseum.

Lundqvist played all four games (3-0-1) last season against the Islanders and allowed just six goals.

We won't know head coach Alain Vigneault's reasoning until 5 p.m., when he provides his daily briefing, but it could be that he wants to:

A. Assure that Lundqvist stays healthy, and not play...

Rangers have been in this spot before

Then-Rangers captain Jaromir Jagr celebrates with Henrik Lundqvist

The Rangers record fell to 3-7. They were shut out three times in their first 10 games.

The year was 2007.

As dismal as the start of this 2013 Rangers season appears following a 2-0 shutout to the Canadiens in the Blue Shirts' home opener on Monday, the team can take comfort in the fact that they've been in the same precarious position before and come out just fine.

Yes, a 3-7...

A Primer: Rangers vs. Canadiens at home opener tonight

New York Rangers' Swedish goalie Henrik Lundqvist looks

It’s Henrik Lundqvist (2-4, 3.45, .890 save percentage), returning after missing two games with what was believed to be a lower-body injury, and Montreal's Carey Price (5-5, 2.12, .937) in the nets for the hockey debut at the  “transformed”  Garden.

I’ve got to say, the added artifacts and memorabilia from sports and concerts on display around the arena is very cool, from the 1968-styled...

Post-game extra: Rangers clip Wings 3-2 in OT

Biggest two points of the year so far? Without a doubt, as Alain Vigneault is fond of saying.

Sure, the Blueshirts have just six points in nine games, but capped a brutal road stretch with some positive vibes, scoring three goals after just one in the two previous games.

Top players? Beyond Brassard, who scored the game-winner in OT, Cam Talbot and Benoit Pouliot and Chris Kreider, all...

From Detroit: Talbot making 2nd start, Zuccarello back in lineup

Greetings from The Joe, where the news is that Henrik Lundqvist went through a full practice and worked late on the ice after most players had left. His goal, he said, is to play against the Canadiens Monday in the home opener.

"I'm not going to hide it, I want to play Monday," he said.

But, he did add that the undisclosed injury was impoving slower than he wanted and was waiting...

Observations, stats after a 2-1 loss

Listen, the Rangers can win very few games scoring one goal.

No forwards are scoring: Richards has five, Callahan (injured) three, Derek Dorsett one. That being said, and there’s no excuses, no fanboy here---there were some...
