Smoke signal? Brandon Mashinter returned to Hartford

Captain Ryan Callahan returns vs. Ducks


                After missing seven games with a broken left thumb, Rangers captain Ryan Callahan is dressing against Anaheim at Madison Square Garden. Callahan, who broke the finger blocking a shot in Washington on Oct. 16, was scheduled to be out three to four weeks, but he was cleared Sunday.

Alain Vigneault: No timetable for Rick Nash, still 'feeling symptoms'

The Rangers will be without their top goal scorer from last season for awhile.

Rick Nash, out with a concussion, did not skate Monday and coach Alain Vigneault still does not expect him back soon.

"He's still feeling symptoms," Vigneault said.

The expectation is that at least one forward will be called up from Hartford later Monday to prepare to face the Capitals in Washington...

Martin Biron, Aaron Asham placed on waivers; Rick Nash not skating

The news from practice indicates that the front office of the 1-4 Rangers isn't sitting on their hands:

Goaltender Martin Biron and winger Arron Asham have been placed on waivers. Biron has allowed nine goals already this season, and Asham was a healthy scratch against St.. Louis.  They could both clear, and then a decision has to be made whether they are assigned to the AHL.

Following a disciplinary hearing, Sharks defenseman Brad Stuart was suspended three games for a head shot that forced Rangers star winger Rick Nash out of Tuesday's game after the first period.

SAN JOSE -- Rick Nash walked out of SAP Center late Tuesday with a headache that had worsened as the game went on, and was worried about a possible concussion. The rest of the Rangers walked out humbled and sullen after a pathetic effort in a 9-2 trouncing by the Sharks in the third game of the season.
