In the second, rhe tone of the game changed with two unassisted goals. On the first shot of the second period, Mike Weaver's long toss, his first goal in 185 games, eluded Lundqvist to tie the score at 2. Then just 2:24 later, Erik Johsnon's weak, seemingly harmless wrister thrown on net finishing off a solo coast-to-coast rush trickles between Lundqvist's pads...3-2 Blues. Rangers PP fizzles and we go to the third.

In an action-filled but sloppy first period, Brad Boyes grabbed a loose puck and beat Lundqvist high glove side on the first shot of the night at 1:10.   Then, giving up six inches and almost 40 pounds, Brandon Prust got the crowd back into it, trading lefts and rights with 6-5, 231-pound Brad Winchester. Mike Brewer belted Avery in front and was sent off for roughing at 5:15, and on the power play, Ryan Callahan tipped Olli Jokinen's slap shot from the point for a PP goal just 37 seconds later. T. J. Oshie hit a post and David Backes’ breakaway backhander found iron as well. On the power play, Lundqvist had to stop BJ Crombeen’s solo rush, and Crombeen smashed head first into the end boards after tripping over Lundqvist’s right pad.

At 17:08, as Marian Gaborik released a shot, it ticked Carlo Colaiacovo ’s stick blade and zipped over Conklin’s right shoulder as he reached awkwardly across his body with his glove.
