Just arrived in D.C. Nice dusky start to what is supposed to be a sunny weekend in the 50s. Have to get out in the twilight... Spanish stroll, Spanish stroll...

Think all of us in the MSG press box and press room, watching on deadline last night, believed Evgeni Malkin's shot was a game-wimmer in OT, and wrote it.

Then hastily changed it to Jordan Staal after we filed stories, because the scoresheet noted the change.

We were right. NHL changed it back today after Staal said he never touched the shot.

As Twittered, Marian Gaborik practiced and (surprise) declared that he would play against the Caps tomorrow.

"It felt good to be with the boys, so I’m going to be good to go for tomorrow," he said. "Obviously there’s no situation like a game-like situation so the game is going to be a real test to see if it’s going to hold out. Obviously in a perfect world, maybe we would wait a little bit. But I want to get back at it and get out there. There’s 18 games left and it’s going to be a tough stretch and I want to be a part of it...The boys are working hard out there. It’s frustrating. I don’t think anybody would want to be in that position so I’m anxious to get back at it. We have 18 games left and I want to help this team right away. We’re battling for the playoffs, every game, every point. is critical so I want to get back at it. I’m looking forward to it."

Ryan Callahan rested. "He's a little banged up," said coach John Tortorella, who said that the right winger would play. Both he and Chris Drury has the chance to skip the practice. Drury chose to skate.

I cannot imagine that Henrik Lundqvist will play the back-to-back games, but who knows? Alex Auld will likely play one, possibly tomorrow night.  Tortorella would not divulge his choice yesterday.  Not sure Auld would start at the Garden, where Lundqvist prefers to play. I'm leaning toward Auld for D.C., if only to give a different look to the Caps. May not matter. They seem to score on everybody, and Rangers D must, must tighten up.

Glad many of you are coming along for the ride...Side note: Nailed tix for Adrian Legg's gig at the Turning Point in Piermont on the 19th. Pumped. If you don't know him, and you damn well should if you appreciate musical masters and downright good guys---his playing's hard to describe. Two words for ya: You Tube.
