TOMAS KABERLE, Maple Leafs
Defenseman
Contract: UFA this summer, $4.25 million cap hit

Year after year, we've heard Kaberle's name linked to dozens of trade rumors, but the Leafs haven't pulled the trigger. That's partly because he's a valuable offensive defenseman. But it's also because he holds a limited no-trade clause which allows him to select teams to which he'd accept a trade.

Leafs GM Brian Burke has made it clear in the past that he's not going to just give away one of his best defensemen. But Kaberle's contract is up in July and the sides don't seem to be close to an extension; so why keep him around on a team that's not going to the playoffs?
