More when the puck drops, folks...and for real-time reports, follow me on twitter.com/stevezipay.

                    FIRST PERIOD

Well so much for having the puck more...Shots 3-0 Sabres and ice is tilted. Higgins spins on first rush and puck slides through Gaborik's skates in front...Del Zotto races across zone to hit Adam Mair, gets a piece, but face-plants himself into glass and leaves ice...Miller makes right pad save on Higgins wrister (3rd shot) in scrum between circles...Some forechecking pressure....Del Zotto back

Derek Roy slips puck five-hole on Lundqvist after Vanek spins and sends pass in front, 1-0 Sabres at 6:25.  With a hooking penalty on Tony Lydman, Ryan Callahan, drifting alone in front after checking Tallinder,  scores his second in two games against Buffalo this week, wristing a pass from Gaborik above Miller at 10:22, score tied.

Gaborik's 4-on-3 goal, his 22nd, is equalized by Kaleta, swiping the puck past Lundqvist while falling in across the goalmouth at 14:28. It's  2-2 and Michal Rozsival is now off for slashing. Gaborik, who collided with Roy and went down grimacing and favoring his left shoulder/neck, returned on the PK.

Shots: Rangers 14, (four less than the entire game plus part of OT against Hawks), Sabres 13.

END OF ONE:  RANGERS 2, SABRES 2
