The Rangers added some depth at forward, signing free agent center/wing Vinny Prospal on Monday.

The deal is reportedly worth $1.1 million.

Prospal, 34, scored 19 goals and 26 assists in 82 games with the Tampa Bay Lightning last season. He became a free agent this summer after the Lightning bought out the final three years on a four-year contract he had signed last year.

Prospal, who scored 80 points in his best season for the Lightning in 2005-06, adds versatility and scoring depth, and could have the opportunity to center a line with high-scoring winger Marian Gaborik.
