OK, back from a brief Father's Day blogging sabbatical with a busy coupla weeks ahead: Draft, NYR prospects camp, free agency, so stayed tuned here and at twitter.com/stevezipay

So at this point, we know the 2010-11 edition of the Rangers will open the season in Cheektowaga, er Buffalo, on Oct. 9 and debut at home against the Leafs on Oct. 15. The rest of the details shortly after noon.

No significant trades yesterday, although things are simmering around the league. We should know the cap number officially today, and perhaps see some more movement.  I still believe several noteworthy trades will happen during draft as teams dump salary....One whisper arriving with some regularity is that  goaltender Jack Campbell will be selected before pick No. 10... I noticed that The Post reports that Rangers are not in on Nathan Horton...I haven't heard otherwise. That NTC is an issue. One name that's apparently kicking around is D Willie Mitchell...

That's about all for this morning briefing...more later
