How to volunteer at the 2013 Long Island Marathon
Running 26.2 miles is not for everyone, but you don't have to be an athlete to get involved with the Long Island Marathon.
The race brings thousands of people to Uniondale and the surrounding area every year for an entire weekend of events, from a fitness expo and a kids run to the actual marathon and post-race fun.
The 41st annual RXR Long Island Marathon will take place on Sunday, May 5, and volunteers will be needed from April 28 through race day.
A volunteer orientation meeting will be held May 1 at 7:30 p.m. at the Mitchel Athletic Complex.
"Anyone interested in volunteering can come to this meeting to learn what we need help with, learn about the event and receive volunteer credentials," says Jason Lipset, Long Island Marathon weekend director.
