The Angels placed catcher Jeff Mathis on the disabled list with a broken bone in his right wrist after he was hit by a ball in the dirt in the eighth inning of Monday's game. Mathis is expected to miss 6-8 weeks. I have urged Mike Napoli owners to be patient and that he would find his way into the lineup eventually. I didn't think it would come in this manner, but hopefully Napoli owners stuck with him. If he is available in your league, pick him up now.

Mathis has started 10 of the Angels' 14 games, mainly for his defense, but he hit .325. Napoli owners were growing extremely impatient. Napoli started 84 games last season compared to 78 for Mathis. Napoli has hit 20 home runs in two consecutive seasons with just 227 at-bats in 2008 and 382 at-bats in 2009. Napoli has excellent power and he can still produce in limited at-bats.
