Boys lacrosse roundup: DeNapoli leads Lynbrook
Mike DeNapoli had three goals, including the eventual
game-winner with 5:48 left in the fourth quarter off an assist from Connor DeVoe, for Lynbrook (8-0) in a 6-5 win over host Garden City (5-2) in Nassau Conference B-I boys lacrosse Wednesday.
Bellmore JFK 9, New Hyde Park 8: Chris Mazzeo scored the game-winner, his third goal of the game, on an assist from Justin Grossman with two seconds remaining for Bellmore JFK (5-3). Alex Zafrin's second goal for Bellmore JFK tied the score at 8 with 5:18 left.
Carey 10, Hewlett 7: John Saloman scored four goals for Carey (5-3). Chris Spillane added three assists and two goals.
Sewanhaka 11, Roslyn 7: Steve Joseph scored a game-high four goals with one assist for visiting Sewanhaka (2-7). Dylan Shimansky added three goals.
Jericho 14, Lawrence 3: Ryan Lee scored five of his seven goals in the first half for Jericho (5-4). Lawrence is 0-8.
Plainedge 15, Great Neck South 2: Dan Rogers scored four goals and had one assist for visiting Plainedge (5-3). Paul Benedetto added two goals and four assists, and Mike Rossi chipped in with three goals and three assists.
Island Trees 11, Glen Cove 10: Billy Gladitsch scored 38 seconds into overtime for Island Trees (4-3) in Conference B-II. Gladitsch also scored off an assist from Kieran Rigel with 45 seconds left in regulation to tie the score at 10.
Wheatley 10, West Hempstead 7: Maxx Zetlin scored five goals with one assist for visiting Wheatley (1-7). Alec Sherman added two goals and four assists. WH is 0-8.
Locust Valley 14, Mineola 7: Senior Nick DellaFera scored a career-high four goals with three assists for host Locust Valley (5-3). Mike Martucci added three goals, and Mike Marchini chipped in with two goals and two assists.
Great Neck North 8, Clarke 3: Danny Linell scored three goals and had three assists for visiting Great Neck North (3-5). Mike Klein added two goals and three assists. Bethpage 12, Floral Park 2: Rob Masi had four goals and two assists for Bethpage (4-5). Matt Cannone added three goals. Floral Park fell to 5-3.
North Shore 8, Seaford 2: Chris Dellavecchia had three goals and two assists for North Shore (6-2).
East Hampton 7, Islip 6: Neil Powell scored the winning goal off of an assist from Matt Burns with 5:44 remaining in the fourth quarter to lift East Hampton (5-7) in Suffolk Division II. Mark Simmons recorded 17 saves and added a goal. Simmons preserved the win by making a point-blank save with two seconds remaining.
Shoreham-Wading River 11, Bayport-Blue Point 4: Junior Nik Mullen scored a career-high five goals for host Shoreham-Wading River (11-1). Mike Delia added four goals and one assist.
Hauppauge 11, Huntington 7: Danny Schiem scored four goals and added an assist for host Hauppauge (8-4). Ryan Compitello added two goals and four assists. John McCallen scored four goals for Huntington.
Eastport-South Manor 17, Mercy 6: Alec Rosenberg had four goals for Eastport-South Manor (7-5). Patrick Burnery had six saves in the first half and had two goals and two assists as a midfielder in the second half for Mercy.
Kings Park 13, Westhampton 3: Stephen Eicher scored four goals and had two assists for Kings Park (6-6). Pat Thompson added two goals and two assists.
Glenn 14, Babylon 9: Matt Forsberg had four goals to lead Glenn (9-3). Andrew Hurst had four goals and two assists for Babylon (4-8).
Comsewogue 15, Harborfields 4: Rich Lunghi had four goals and two assists for Comsewogue (9-3). John DeChiaro added one goal and six assists.
