ARMANDO BENITEZ
Played for the Orioles, Mets, Yankees, Mariners, Marlins, Giants and Blue Jays from 1994-2008
Signed with the Ducks in 2012
The two-time All Star is remembered by Yankees fans for two infamous pitches as an Orioles reliever. One was a home run hit by Derek Jeter and caught by Jeffrey Maier in Game 1 of the 1996 ALCS. The other drilled Tino Martinez in the back. Mets fans will remember Benitez as the closer who replaced John Franco. While Benitez had a penchant for blown saves in his four-plus seasons with the Mets, he saved 160 games, including two straight seasons of 40-plus and helped lead the Mets to the 2000 World Series. Benitez saved 289 games in his career with a 3.13 ERA. He signed with the Ducks on May 24.
