Miller said he enjoys working at TNT in part because of its reputation for allowing announcers to speak their minds.

"You can pretty much say whatever you want," he said. "Because of Charles [Barkley], we get license to be honest, and I think that's what our network is all about.

"I think the players respect that more than trying to sugarcoat things."

One example of that was TNT's harshly negative coverage of last month's slam-dunk contest.

"I know [David] Stern and the league were not happy," Miller said. "But it was the truth. People were at home snoozing or they switched the channel."
