Michael Starr of the Post wrote this story today about SNY offering its sports news services to local broadcast channels looking to outsource that task.

When I first heard about this concept a few months ago from people in the local  sports TV business, I thought it sounded like a logical idea.

Logical, that is, within the context of what has been happening in recent years to local broadcast sports operations; they have been severely cut back on the theory that sports fans get their information elsewhere anyway.

I'm not sure where all this will end up, but I hope somehow it doesn't cost some of the quality people still toiling in local broadcast TV sports their jobs.
