Chambliss ball sold, bat is not
Remember last week’s item in which Chris Chambliss talked about putting up for auction the bat and ball from his ALCS-winning home run in 1976?
Well, the ball sold at the All-Star FanFest Tuesday for a cool $82,655.10, including the buyer’s premium. What about the bat? Alas, it did not reach the reserve (minimum) price, so it remains available.
What was that price? The auction company would not say, but it remained on the market as of Friday afternoon, and a spokeswoman said there has been “significant interest.’’
