It's a scream! Gus Johnson, Dick Vitale get new gigs!

Big day Tuesday for two guys famous for turning the sports announcing volume dial to 11.

First, SI.com reported that Fox is grooming Gus Johnson to be its lead play-by-play voice for the 2018 World Cup, starting with a series of assignments this year, beginning Feb. 13 with Real Madrid against Manchester United.

Johnson has been on a crash course in soccer, including playing the game regularly. This should be very interesting!

Meanwhile, ESPN announced that Dick Vitale will work Final Four games for the first time in his career - serving as an analyst for one semifinal and the national championship game in Atlanta, with play-by-play man Brad Nessler.

What’s that you say? What happened to CBS? Oh, forgot to mention: Vitale will work for ESPN International, which will carry the games in 150 countries and territories, none of which is the United States.

Still, better than nothing.

“I can’t believe it,’’ Vitale said in a news release. “All my buddies in Italy are going to be able to hear me. I just hope they can understand what I’m saying.’’
