Neil Best leaves no stone unturned in the world of sports media.
Erin Andrews will join ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" as a co-host, the show announced Monday.
I will leave the basics of this matter to our non-sports media/entertainment crew, but for the purposes of our little corner of the world the important thing is that Ms. Andrews will continue in her multi-faceted role with Fox Sports.
Andrews - a former contestant on DWTS - is following the...Read more »
CBS announced Monday that former Jets linebacker Bart Scott will join the revamped panel of analysts for its "The NFL Today" pregame show for the 2014 season.
Previously the network said Tony Gonzalez would join the show, while Dan Marino and Shannon Sharpe left.
Scott and Gonzalez join the returning James Brown, Bill Cowher and Boomer Esiason.
Scott, who last played in 2012, drew...Read more »
Sources tell me the Olympics will go on even after both American hockey teams were eliminated from gold medal contention, and with that in mind I recommend a feature that NBC plans for its afternoon show Saturday.
It is not tied directly to the Olympics but it is tied to hockey and Russia. The documentary, "Lokomotiv," looks back at the Sept. 7, 2011, plane crash that wiped out the Yaroslavl-based...Read more »
NBC conducted a media call Thursday to promote the United States-Canada men’s hockey semifinal and ended up fielding as many questions about the Pyeongchang Games of 2018 as about Sochi in 2014.
Such is the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the NHL’s interest in putting its season on hold to send its stars hither and yon in search of medals and at risk of injury. (Sorry to bring that up, Islanders...Read more »
“The Price of Gold,” last month’s ESPN look back at the Tonya Harding/Nancy Kerrigan saga of 1994, was good at what it did, but it lacked one crucial element: Nancy Kerrigan.
Kerrigan opted out after agreeing to sit down exclusively with NBC – which also hired her to provide commentary on the figure skating in Sochi.
Sunday night at 7 the payoff for viewers arrives in the form of “Nancy...Read more »
Kate Upton and I go way back, to the spring of 2011, when we rapped about her being a fan of the Yankees, Knicks and especially Jets, thanks to her sister working in client relations for the team.
But we both were younger and more innocent then. In the ensuing years she has become an international star, with three consecutive Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue covers, joining Christie Brinkley...Read more »
Like most sports flicks, “Draft Day’’ has its share of realism issues. But as the film’s April opening has approached some matters beyond its control cropped up, such as the matter of the No. 1 overall selection.
In the movie, whose story centers on the 2014 NFL Draft, the Seahawks own that dubious distinction. Oops. In the real world, the Seahawks will pick dead last.
But with the cooperation...Read more »
Producers Fran Kirmser and Tony Ponturo now are batting .333 on sports-themed Broadway shows, having enjoyed modest success with “Lombardi” then seeing “Magic/Bird’’ and now “Bronx Bombers’’ close after about a month.
The Yankees-centric play opened Feb. 6 and will be no more after next Sunday’s performance.
While that’s a better lifetime average than some of the show’s characters, including...Read more »
Chris "Mad Dog" Russo is not fond of the NBA All-Star Game.
"Anything has to be better than the NBA All-Star Game," Russo said with the first 11 words of this soundbyte from Tuesday's "Mad Dog Unleashed" on SiriusXM Radio.
He continued by bashing the lack of defense and the attendance, and the inclusion of bands at halftime.
"The NBA [All-Star] game is a no-watch," he said. "You...Read more »
Jim Bell, NBC's executive producer for the Olympics, said Monday from Sochi that he was comfortable with how the network handled what has become a controversial post-race interview with skiier Bode Miller Sunday.
Miller won the bronze medal in the super-G, after which NBC's Christin Cooper - a former Olympic skiier herself - asked him a series of followup questions about his emotions after...Read more »
