Aljamain Sterling beat his last opponent in July via technical knockout coming by way of strikes in the third round. The stoppage of Hugo Viana capped a near flawless display of mixed martial arts from the Uniondale fighter.

After the win, his second in the UFC, Sterling said: "I know I got a lot more in the tool bag."

Sterling, a Serra-Longo fighter, will get another opportunity to display his skill set Oct. 4. The undefeated Sterling (10-0) will fight Mitch Gagnon at UFC Fight Night 54 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Welterweights Rory MacDonald and Tarec Saffiedine headline the card. UFC announced the Sterling-Gagnon booking late last week.

Gagnon (11-2, 3-1 UFC) won his last three fights, including a pair or first-round submissions. He last fought in April, beating Tim Gorman by unanimous decision on the UFC TUF Nations finale.
