ORLANDO, Fla. -- The whispers are apparently traveling around the league.

Some executives reportedly aren't thrilled the Nets landed Andrei Kirilenko at such a cheap price tag. Kirilenko had opted out of the final season of his two-year deal with the Timberwolves, one that would've pocketed him a cool $10 million in 2013-14. He wound up signing with the Nets for nearly $7 million less, taking...

In his first game in the 2013 NBA Summer League, Nets first-round draft pick Mason Plumlee showed off some moves we didn't see from the forward at Duke.

Midway through the first quarter, Plumlee ran the floor, spun right to the paint and posterized the Detroit Pistons' Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, the No. 8 overall pick in this year's NBA draft.

Plumlee went on to pick up a double-double...

Bojan Bogdanovic will indeed be a member of the Nets next season.

The Nets have reached an agreement with Bogdanovic, according to a source. The deal is for three years, with the third reportedly being a player option.

A second-round pick whose rights were acquired from the Timberwolves during the 2011 draft, the 6-6 Bogdanovic played for Istanbul-based Fenerbahce the past two seasons....

Jason Kidd learning coaching on the fly

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Jason Kidd wasn’t used to some of the little details that come along with being a head coach.

Like wearing that thing around his neck during practice, among other tasks.

“I guess holding the whistle might be the weirdest or the gameplan or the practice plan,” Kidd said Wednesday following the Nets’ summer league team practice at the PNY Center, Kidd’s first ever...

Mason Plumlee signed on the dotted line -- and just in time for the start of summer camp practice.

The Nets announced Wednesday that they've signed their first-round pick, selected No. 22 overall at last Thursday's draft. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

In other news, according to ESPN, the Nets are no longer in the running for the free agent services of sharpshooter Kyle Korver....

Hardaway Sr.: Trade makes Kidd's job easier

Tim Hardaway works for the Heat, so he's aware of what it takes to win a championship.

Hardaway, who's a community liason and scout for the franchise he played for from 1996-2001, thinks the Nets did themselves some serious justice by landing sage veterans Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce along with Jason Terry in that blockbuster deal that came together during draft night Thursday.

"Man,...

The Nets Friday announced the additions of Lawrence Frank, Roy Rogers and Eric Hughes. Doug Overton, who was a holdover from Avery Johnson's staff, has also been retained.

Frank coached the Nets from 2004-2009, and his presence is a big get for Kidd, who publicly extended the invitation to Frank once he got the job two weeks...

Make that three surgeries on Brook Lopez's right foot.

The Nets announced Monday that their All-Star 7-foot center had a procedure done to replace a screw in his foot. Lopez, who signed a four-year, $60-million deal last offseason, is expected to be back on the basketball court sometime in August, which gives him plenty of time to get himself ready before training camp tips off in October.

Mark Jackson: Jason Kidd 'a great hire'

Head coach Mark Jackson of the Golden State

(Credit: Jim McIsaac)

If anyone knows what Jason Kidd is about to go through, it's Mark Jackson.

Sure, Jackson didn't immediately make the leap to head coach after hanging up his sneakers, spending the better part of six years in the broadcast booth upon retiring in 2004.

But in similar fashion to Kidd, Jackson didn't get seasoning as an assistant coach before landing the Warriors' gig in 2011. Kidd publicly...
