Dana White: Chris Weidman vs. Anderson Silva is 'closer' and 'more possible'
UFC president Dana White says it's possible Long Island native Chris Weidman will be the next fighter to challenge Anderson Silva for his UFC middleweight title.
(Of course, he also said that Silva's next fight would be against Georges St-Pierre, and said the same thing about Jon Jones as well, so take this for what it's worth.)
“That fight’s closer and more possible than people think," White told UFC Tonight in Tuesday's episode. "I actually thought that Weidman was going to be out a lot longer than he was because of his injury, but he’s healed up pretty well and he’ll be ready to start training in a couple of months. So we’re looking at a couple of different options, some options we like, and Weidman is one of them.”
Anything is possible, and Weidman (9-0, 5-0 UFC) is certainly the most worthy challenger at middleweight right now, once he fully heals from a separated shoulder. Below is a Fuel TV interview with Weidman taped this past weeked in Chicago during UFC on Fox 6.
