Here's a shocker: Rousimar Palhares submitted his opponent, Mike Pierce, by ankle lock at UFC Fight Night in Brazil on Wednesday.

But the question after the fight and again Thursday morning is this: Did Palhares hold the submission move too long after Pierce tapped 31 seconds into the fight?

UFC officials thought so and chose not to award Palhares the $50,000 submission of the night bonus, citing "unsportsmanlike conduct."
