'Fightville' a gritty look at a regional MMA circuit
With the State Senate's passing of the bill to legalize MMA on Wednesday, the biggest immediate winners could be the producers of "Fightville."
It is a documentary that focuses on Dustin Poirier and the regional MMA circuit in Louisiana. The film opens in New York and Los Angeles on Friday, April 20, with nationwide release in the coming weeks. "Fightville", from Petra Epperlein and Michael Tucker, will also be available On video on demand and digital download this Friday.
For those of you used to the slick production of UFC videos and featurettes, "Fightville" is a gritty look behind the scenes of life before the big leagues. Weigh-ins in a hotel conference room, a promoter using his son to hand out flyers.
"Fightville" also offers impressive camera angles you haven't seen elsewhere. My favorite scene, those, is the genuine excitement show by Poirier upon eating one grape right after he made weight.
