The second women's MMA fight in UFC history came with far less fanfare than the first.

No Ronda Rousey will do that, as will no championship on the line and no need to sell pay-per-views since Miesha Tate and Cat Zingano fought on the Ultimate Finale 17 on FX in Las Vegas on Saturday night.

To elaborate on the difference between the first and second fights: Zingano's ring entrance wasn't even shown on the live broadcast.

Despite the discrepancy in pre-fight hype, Tate and Zingano put on a fight worthy of plenty of discussion, talk, excitement and analysis. Right from the start, when Tate stormed across the cage and took down Zingano, both fighters kept the pace going, exchanging submission attempts and solid striking.

But tt was Zingano's crushing knees in the third round and a devastating right elbow that stopped Tate and gave her the TKO victory at the 2:55 mark.

"I've looked up to Miesha since i started this sport, I was scared to death of her," Zingano said. "I really appreciate this fight, and I appreciate the opportunities that come with it."

Zingano (8-0) will now coach against Ronda Rousey on Season 18 of "The Ultimate Fighter" then challenge for her women's bantamweight title later this year.

Tate (13-4) had gotten the better of the exchanges in the first two rounds and was likely ahead on the judges' cards but seemed to slow down to begin the third round.
