Nick Newell has had nine professional MMA fights. He has won all nine, including eight in the first round.

He has done so without having a complete left arm.

Newell, a 27-year-old from Springfield, Mass., will bring his skills -- he won the XFC lightweight title last year -- to the World Series of Fighting, the promotion announced Tuesday. No fight date was announced, but Newell is expected to fight for WSOF later this summer.

“Nick Newell is an incredible individual who exemplifies the sheer strength of the human spirit and the kind of courage and determination that martial arts embodies, so we are naturally thrilled to welcome him to the World Series of Fighting roster, and look forward to having him compete and, hopefully inspire, our national audience on NBC Sports Network,” said WSOF president Ray Sefo.
