Urijah Faber pops a jab at Dominick Cruz
Urijah Faber and Dominick Cruz enjoy a relationship of respect and contempt.
In the latest round of their well-documented and blatantly public dislike for one another, Faber threw a jab at Cruz on Tuesday night's edition of "UFC Tonight."
Faber, a former WEC champion was asked if he wants another title shot. Here's his response:
“I would love for that to happen. Do we have a champ who’s sturdy enough to stand up and fight? Right now we don’t. We’ve got Renan Barao and old man Dominick Cruz, who could take a lesson from Yuri [Alcantara] on getting some finishes in his career. We’ve got to get these guys healed up and to step in so I can beat them for a belt.”
Cruz, the UFC bantamweight champion, hasn't fought since Oct. 1, 2011 because of two knee injuries. In his last 10 fights, Cruz (19-1) has gone to a decision eight times. The two stoppages were a second-round TKO of Brian Bowles (doctor's stoppage) and a first-round submission loss to Faber. Cruz avenged his lone career loss with a successful title defense against Faber in July 2011. And yes, that was a decision victory.
